Kids Helping Kids

On October 11th, President Bush called upon each child in America to help in a relief effort by earning or giving one dollar to provide food for the kids in Afghanistan. From the mouths of kids, read what they are doing to help.

I think we should do excactly what President Bush said, that we should give at least a dollar. You could give one dollar a week or every day.I pray for all kids in Afghanastan that they will have a better life. - Shane - Age: 11 - From USA

I plan to start babysitting and the $ I make will be donated to the Red Cross to help the other families that need help. There isn't a lot us kids can do, but every little bit helps. And I want to make a difference. - Lisa - Age: 10 - From USA

I think that we should be happy about the things we have and give to the Afghan children. They need it at a time like this. So lets all chip in and give! - Kayla - Age: 10 - From USA

I think you should do some favors or babysit or spomething to earn money.Try to help others and earn money. - Melany - Age: 10 - From USA

I think kids can sell things that they don't need. - Chrisianna - Age: 11 - From USA

I think that what happened in the world is horrible. We all should chip in and give anything we can. As most of us would like to be able to donate money some of us cannot do that. I believe going out and saying hello and how are you to someone can make a big difference in the world today. So please when you finish reading this go out and say hello to someone. Who knows they may become a good friend. - Whitney - Age: 13 - From USA

I am going to earn money by wathcing pets over the winter. After all this is the time of year when people travel to warmer spots. I will donate all the money I make to the Afghan kids. Its not there fault the war is going on! - Aarin - Age: 12 - From USA

What I did was something different I sende supplies for school and home and winter clothes suchas mittens, scarfs, and more . - Briana - Age: 10 - From USA

I think that president bushes idea was fantastic! but instead of just persuading american kids an teens to donate money to help the needy kids he should make the idea go global. He could persuade the united nations to hold a special relief day for not only the needy kids but the struggling adults in Afganistan. This would help to show that the united nations only want the best for our world, hopefully demonstrating to the civilians that they need a democratic govourment. I would also like to say that it was dreadfull to hear of the recent devestation which occured on september the 11th and that we here in the u.k grieved along side the u.s.a. "God Bless America" - Carly - Age: 14 - From UNITED KINGDOM

I think that we should just do acts of kindness towards people who are feeling sad or left out, we should be nice to eachother, and learn to except that even though some of us may have diffrent religions or diffrent coloured skin,or may not be as rich as you are, we are still humans and if we start getting along better, the world would be a better place for all of us. Even just smiling at someone, it helps alot. - Lea-Anne - Age: 13 - From CANADA

I think that we should send food donations right away to the Afghanistan shildren and the hungry. They didn't do anything, and they are really sick.U.S.A will prove that we are the good guys and not the bad. They will probably get a idea of how kind to send some lovely food here in Afghanistan!!! - Laurel - Age: 9 - From USA

I think that one chanel shold show kids and how, are what they did for the children in packastand, and afganistand's children and on that news we shopld make up a club and each state or town are city shold get to gether and do a progect and the top ten cits, towns or states shold be on the news - Joni - Age: 11 - From USA

I think we all can help each other around the world. I personally think its easy. The way that I do it , is by waving at people from your car or saying hello to someone . Just speak up about how you feel to people. Let them know that you care about this . Love the world. - Hillary - Age: 10 - From USA

yes we sould give money to them.Alot of them are sick because of the war. Its not there falt that there is a war going on.I believe they soudnt suffer and die. - Cara - Age: 12 - From USA

Kids all over the world and USA get money when they do chores or work. They get even more on holidays and birthdays.I think you should donate money or go out and use the money to buy gifts for the children. It's the right thing to do. - Brina - Age: 10 - From USA

I'm going to give money at any chance I get to help the kids in Afghanistan. I think it's a great idea and I think all u ppl out there should try to help any way u can aswell. - Laura - Age: 12 - From CANADA

I feel really sorry for all the kids over in the U.S.
If I could do something I would. I wish all the kids, parents, and others all the best of Luck - Jess - Age: 12 - From AUSTRALIA

It think that the most important thing to do is participating in a fundraiser and make up to $3,000.00 to send to the Afagan kids to make sure they are needed and are loved by others in their nation. We could use a lot of help saving these kids and protecting them from Osomo Bin Laden that is something that we should do. So get out in the world in a different city and make some money. So lets participate in this incredible adventure. - Kat - Age: 11 - From USA

Our school newspaper sold a special edition to raise money for the Afghan children. It cost more than it usually does but we sent $211 to the Afghan children. - Eileen - Age: 12 - From USA

Hi. Even though our ages vary we all know whats going on in our world today. Most parents don't want to open up to their children because it may be to devastating. But we know whats going on, and we all want to help. We're not telling the Afgans to help us fight and find Osama Bin Laden but they want to. They want to help thier country through this hard time. They are innocent people just like us. They didn't do anything wrong and neither did we so why do they and ourselves have to be put through a time in terror? - Ashley - Age: 13 - From USA

I think that what happend on september 11 is really sad. My middle school raised over 2 thousand dollars to American police and firefighters.God bless America,P.S.Iam a girl not boy.lol - Jessie - Age: 11 - From AUSTRALIA

At my school we had a fund to support the children of Afghanistan. We raised $150.00. I don't think that's enough though. Some students think that suppoting them they will grow up and attack us again. I thin it is good to support the children of Afhganistan will earn their trust and we will become friends with the country. I tis not their fault if there parents do noy like America. They were taught to. If we tell them different they will become our friends when they grow up. Another thing is that I do not think it is very fair that they are not allowed to learn. all kids should be educated. I hope that my schools fund will go toward education for tha Afghanistan children. - Carissa - Age: 11 - From USA

If I were him I would give up,because when he bombed the Twin Towers he thoght he tore us apart though he only broght us together. He is very mean and awful. I think we should have justice. I'm very mad at him. He doesn't deserve a cent of his family's fortune. - Vickie - Age: 10 - From USA

I'm actually from Dar Es Salaam - Tanzania, but u don't have my country name in your country choice list so I chose the nearest to

I think with this anthrax scare now on it is worrying a lot if teens. What I say, don't worry about what the press says look to friends, family, and teachers for all the answers to the questions. When you get scared, or need a friend, don't go to the T.V., just vistit your favourite book, call a friend, or even talk to family members. To all of those who were affected by the September 11 tradgedy.
- Christine - Age: 12 - From CANADA

President Bush is setting a great example with trying to help the kids in Aphganastan. But all of us in the USA or other countries can help too!! I think it is great to donate a dollar or just a couple of pennies. Everything helps and everything counts. Those people overseas in Aphganastan, and the people in the airforce need our prayers. My advice is to do anything you think is helping. Start a donation jar at your school or start "Aphganastan Help" drives to help. Remember everyone can make a difference in this situation. God Bless!! - Ashley - Age: 14 - From USA

-I am very glad our country is helping kids in Afghanistan. My family is helping out at church too. But why are we helping the people in afghanistan all of a sudden? Why now? Why didn't we do it three years ago? - Kelsey - Age: 10 - From USA

I think that there is more us kids can do, but what? I would like to help, and some of the suggestions are good ones. So I guess my suggestion would be to donate money to fundraising. - Naz - Age: 13 - From AUSTRALIA

I think what kids could do is if you get allouence you could donate like a few dollars from it. Or you can do stuff like rake leaves or have a lemonade stand to earn money. I feel really bad for the Afganistan kids because its not their falut and many are homeless and starving. I think Gorege Bush's plan is good because i think we should bomb them and by giving the innocent kids food it shows that we are a very careing country to those innocent children. I also think that the Afganistans out here are Americans just like you and me and we should treat them nice and not think that they are terrorists. I am proud to be a American - Samantha - Age: 12 - From USA

The ways that I would raise money would be to:1.Mabey have a bake sale.2.Set up a stand in my yard and ask people to give donations. And 3.Give my own money.I hope all my ideas will help all kids try to make a difference.Thank you for letting me tell you how I would get money for those children. - Nicole - Age: 10 - From USA

I would like to say that I hope you have enough food, and i hope your fealing better.I hope this war is almost over. - Jordan - Age: 7 - From USA

I think a good idea is, if you are going carol singing this year, you could give all the money that you raise to the kids in Afghanistan. When you go, have a sign or something like that, saying that all the money will go to children in Afghanistan. You will raise more money this way, because if people don't know that you are raising money for a cause, they will think you just want the money for yourself and won't give you as much. - Sophie - Age: 12 - From UNITED KINGDOM

I think that it is sad to know that there are people out in the world who would do things like this. if there are any kids who need to talk you can talk to me. - April - Age: 9 - From USA

I think that this whole thing is just to sad all of the people losing their lives, people that are innocent. All i have to say is just Beacuse we are kids and teens doesn't mean that we can't do anything about this whole thing all we have to do is help. So everyone just say we are goign to win this and then hopfully we can all get back on track and have our lives back and i will pray for everyone. SO ALL U HAVE TO DO IS PRAY and give to fire fighters and dontant food. THANKS FOR LISTENING TO WHAT I HAVE TO SAY - Jesi - Age: 13 - From CANADA

We may be just kids but we can pray to help them.We may live in another country but all live in the same world.DONT GIVE UP!!!! - Lex - Age: 12 - From PHILIPPINES

president bush is just trying to make a good impression on the afghanistan people by sending them money and food, if he feels sorry for the afghanis then why is he bombing them at the same time. that is his strategy, to make the afghanistan people think that he is a good person and does not want to do anything to our country by sending them food, but also bombing and killing people at the same time. bush's strategy was also printed in a article in a recent time magazine - Hamza - Age: 12 - From HONG KONG

I live in Canada, and we're all very worried, and upset about what happened. Even though we dont live in the USA, we are still trying to help. We had a fireman's boot in our school. We had to bring any amount of $$ we could, and donate it. We also made red, white, and blue bracletes in art, and are sending them to a school in Manhattan. Its to show that we care, and are praying for them. I just want to say that Americans are strong, and can do just about anything if they put their minds, and hearts to it. DONT GIVE UP!!! :) - Tara - Age: 12 - From CANADA

My school had a bake sale and made LOTS AND LOTS of money!! - Taylor - Age: 8 - From USA

I'm going to ask my mom if i can have a baked goods stand in our front yard and sell everything for $1.00 each.each doller counts and is helpful to the afghan kids,so help out!If Unsama Bin Laden ever reads this i want him to read ALL of it!!!Unsama Bin Laden you had no right to just come flying in to the WTC buildings and blow up the pentagon!!!!! - Jessi - Age: 9 - From USA

I think we should help the afghan children ,and adults because it's the right thing to do,and because it's what God wants us to do. Even if your not a scout or anything we should help - Christian - Age: 11 - From USA

I think that Kids helping kids is a great way to make kids understand the life lesson of giving. I think this is a great way for kids to get up and instead of watching television they can be having a bake sal e or somethibng to be supprting the children of afghanistan! I have raked my neighbors leaves and gotten some small but useful tips and i am collecting anything from 25 cents to a dollar......its not that much to pay when u really think about it - Mallory - Age: 12 - From USA

I think we really need to help the Afganastan children. They are starving to death. I feel that we need to send lots of food over to Afganastan. We should send gifts to the kids over there. At my church we have VBS and last year we boxed gifts and sent them to poor children who can't afford to buy food and water. I think that we should do exsactly what i just wrote. - Kelsey - Age: 10 - From USA

lived in U.S then I would help those kids unfortanatly I do not
live all way up there if only I lived in U.S if only - Chris - Age: 10 - From SOUTH AFRICA

i think we should all do our part to help with this long and scary process!
we shouldn't take anything for granet because if you think your life is terrible you need to think about all the children out there who don't have any parents to come to and tell them good night or to cook there meals,or to spend Christmas with them and there parents won't be there to walk them down the asile when they get married. SO BEFORE YOU THINK YOUR LIFE IS SO HARD THINK ABOUT THE KIDS WHO DON'T HAVE ANY PARENTS!!! - Lauren - Age: 12 - From USA

I think more schools and communitys need to get involved to do ANY little thing they can to help because, we are not after the people of Afganistan, we are after Unsama Bin Laden. - Alex - Age: 11 - From USA

I sent a dollar to school and I plan to send another dollar tommorow. - Jonathon - Age: 10 - From USA

I think that we should not let the attack end our peoples lives by going in to war.But I will try to earn money and collect can goods for the children.Because I can't live with the fact that a child has to suffer, while I am healthy and eating food.It feels like killing the children but we really arn't. - Amanda - Age: 12 - From USA

Although I have been saving up for a nintendo game cube, I will try to give as much money of mine to a better cause. I just hope the kid the money is for is happy. He could buy food to help him survive. His/her parents are probally too busy burning USA flags that they forgot to care for their kids. or homeless kids dont know what it is like to be loved. I just hope the money makes the poor kids happy. - Eric - Age: 11 - From USA

I think we should try to help the kids of Afganstan it's not there fault what their parents are doing. They should still be able to eat, and clean water to drink, and have a safe plce to sleep. Afganstan is a small place and there isn't a lot of money to get get a lot of things that are needed and kids are stuck to fend for there selves. These kids don't know wht it's like to be safe and loved. So I think we should give it to them and do it whith a cheerful heart. - Christa - Age: 11 - From USA

I think that all americans should pitch in to help feed the children of afganistan. If people are thinking that they are bad and hate the USA they are wrong. It isn't the children's fault. I am going to give a dollar and it is going to the hungry childrern of afganistan. I hope i can save a hungry child. - ERICA - Age: 11 - From USA

We have to try to help. I'll be doing whatever I can to help the poor, innocent Afgan kids. We can't take freedom for granted! The Afgan kids often have to live in caves and have to hunt to survive. They don't have jobs, they are poor, and if they fall down, their parents won't help them back up. We have to send in money to the White House for the Afgan kids. We must also pray to God to help them, and to help us win the war on terrorism. We have to show we love those kids in Afganistan as Americans, and we have to win the war by helping. May God bless America. - Jim - Age: 12 - From USA
